Andreas Weigend worked as chief architect and research manager for Amazon.com until 2004. During his time at Amazon.com he developed models that could predict consumer behaviour, situation-based marketing and the value of interactive networks for the purpose of creating sales success in e-commerce. Today he teaches Data Mining and e-commerce at Stanford University in the US, where he also got his doctoral degree in 1991. He has written six books and more than one hundred scientific articles. As the world’s leading authority on e-commerce, Weigend is a popular speaker at different e-commerce forums around the world. He also works as a consultant for many different e-commerce companies in the US, China and the rest of Asia. Some of his customers are: Bank of America, HP, Morgan Stanley, SAS, Siemens and Yahoo.
